KUALA LUMPUR: The RM570 million Integrated Transportation Terminal Bandar Tasik Selatan has begun attracting bus passengers. A check by Bernama yesterday found that several shops and the hawker centre on level four have opened with several people seen enjoying their meals.

Elijah Ismail, 45, from Sentul, who went to buy tickets to Johor was, however, disappointed because the ticket counters have yet to be opened.

"I hope the ticket counters will open soon," said the housewife who was accompanied by her husband, Ariffin Ismail, 47, and daughter, Rabiatul, 15.
She also praised the terminal facilities provided by Maju Terminal Management and Services (Maju TMAS).

Parking attendant Termizi Mat Amir, 44, was also proud of the ultra-modern public transport terminal.

"Bus passengers will benefit from this terminal which also provides jobs to the locals," he said.

Trader Ana Hickson, 61, was happy with the retail unit rental rate and hopes the terminal will be given more promotion.

"More taxis and buses will bring in more people and help boost business here," she added.

Stallholder Asif Baig, 32, was amazed with the facilities which are on a par with those at international airports.

Maju Holdings corporate communications manager Badrul Izhan said that ticket counters will open today.

"It all depends on the bus operators. The bus terminal can handle 1,000 trips daily," he said.

The terminal, with 55 platforms and 1,000 parking lots, is linked to KTM Komuter, Express Rail Link and the Light Rail Transit (LRT) System.

It is a government project to increase the use of public transport in the Klang Valley from 16 per cent to 25 per cent by next year. -- Bernama
