JELI: Kelantan Barisan Nasional would adopt the winning strategies used in the Nov 4 Galas by-election for the coming general election. Its chief Datuk Mustapa Mohamed said the formula used in Galas and also earlier in the Manik Urai by-election last year was relevant and suitable for the whole state.
"We used a moderate approach in Galas and it was proven a success. This is the approach that we will use in Kelantan for the next general election.
“It is crucial that our strategy is correct, suitable and accepted by the people,” he told reporters here yesterday before presenting prizes to the top 147 Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) students in the Jeli parliamentary constituency.
In the Nov 4 Galas by-election, BN's Abdul Aziz Yusof defeated Dr Zulkilfi Muhammad of Pas by a 1,190 votes majority.
The election was held following the death of incumbent Che Hashim Sulaima from Pas in September.
Mustapa, who is also International Trade and Industry Minister, said it was important for BN to keep its winning momentum.
“We must also have winnable candidates and a good approach to be accepted by the people. We must also work harder to get the people to understand the policies advocated by the federal government,” he said.
