Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Malaysia's cultural, racial and religious diversity is not a hindrance for the people to enjoy harmony without major differences which could cause conflict.
The prime minister said the diversity had instead become the country's source of strength and pride and create a condition for the society to live in harmony and solidarity.
Stressing the point as he explained the meaning of this year's Maal Hijrah theme, "1Malaysia 1Ummah", the prime minister said: "This is the strength which will spur us towards a united 1Ummah."
Najib said this in his message in the souvenir book for the national-level Maal Hijrah celebration at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, today. -- Bernama
